The Nor West Jockey Club is the Pilbara's premier thoroughbred racing venue. The club prides itself in producing unique events for all racegoers culminating in an experience that will stay with you for life. Boasting facilities not found at any other club in the Pilbara such as a dedicated two storey members marquee featuring its own bar, TAB, members courtyard and members amenities. The general public area is designed to enhance patrons event experience with full TAB, bar, bookies and shaded, grassed areas trackside to create an atmosphere you won't find elsewhere. The powdery Pindan Track sits amongst a beautiful Pilbara backdrop showcasing nature at its finest.
Horse racing in Roebourne has been an annual social event since 1867, attracting bookies, jockeys, trainers and spectators from all over Australia. The races were originally held on the left hand side of the Cossack Road, before moving to the present course in 1890, with the site named the Nor-West Jockey Club.
Fast forward over 150 years and the Roebourne Races is as popular as ever. The NWJC is a Not For Profit organisation run by a dedicated group of locals who volunteer their time to keep the racing spirit alive in the Pilbara. Your NWJC Committee is proud to bring you the 155th year of the Roebourne Races and celebrate the 132nd year at the current Roebourne Racetrack location.
The 2022 Roebourne Races season is like no other! Across six race meetings we will see over $499,000 in prize money won. The NWJC increases base stakes across each events major races, further investing in the future of thoroughbred racing in the Pilbara. Highly regarded by Jockeys and Trainers as the Pilbara's best race course, the Pindan Track is prepared and ready for yet another exciting racing season.
Each Roebourne Races event has a unique theme kicking off with the season kickoff on 10th June. Live entertainment, activities for the kids and some great racing will keep the whole tribe entertained for the day! Ladies Day features on June 25th June and is the pinnacle of the social calendar in the Pilbara region! Fashion savvy ladies from across the state will don their finest race attire to compete for the Fashions on the Field winner sash. The ladies winner also earns the opportunity to enter the coveted WA Fashions on the Field competition boasting over $25,000 in prizes! Men, we haven't forgotten about you! Men's FOTF will see the Pilbara's sharpest gents swap high vis out and don their finest attire for the desired first place and bragging rights till 2022. XXXX Gold Pilbara Handicap themes our third meeting on Friday 8th July featuring the $30,000 Pilbara Cup and a Rockabilly themed Fashions on the Field competition. Live entertainment will keep you jiving between races! The next race day to mark in your calendar is the prestigious "Super Saturday" Roebourne Cup event on Saturday July 23rd 2022. We are further investing in thoroughbred racing in our region by topping up base stakes to THREE feature races on this day; the $30,000 Settlers Sprint, $30,000 Harding Cup and $60,000 Roebourne Cup!! Regarded by many as one of the best race meetings in the North West, Roebourne Cup Day is a true spectacle and is always well supported by the local Pilbara communities. The seven event card never fails to please the punters and the Roebourne Cup is the most prized trophy to win in the Pilbara race round.
